Briá Sanders Foundation Charity Golf Classic (BSFCGC)

This golf tournament is designed to raise funds for the BSF. Funds raised from this event will help the foundation purchase a technology based curriculum for middle and high school students. The curriculum will feature Robotics, Forensic Science, Aerospace, and other science, technology and engineering training material for BSF students. The BSFCGC is scheduled for May 9, 2009. This activity will be conducted by the BSF.

BSF Forensic Science Field Trip-Ole Miss University

The BSF is sponsoring a field trip for its students to Ole Miss University in Oxford, Mississippi. The attending students will take part in a Forensic Science class and will become crime scene investigators. The students will be analyzing fingerprints, do DNA experiments of hair follicles, and other crime scene techniques. This activity will be conducted by the head of the Forensic Chemistry Department and staff at Ole Miss University, and is scheduled for May 16, 2009. BSF Junior Golf Field Trip-Ole Miss University

Later that afternoon the students will visit the Ole Miss University Golf team facility. The students will tour the team locker rooms indoor and outdoor practice area. Students also will take part in a question and answer session with Ole Miss University golf staff, then go and hit balls at the Ole Miss Golf team practice area. BSF Robotics Field Trip-Southwest Tennessee Community College (STCC)

The BSF is sponsoring an educational field trip to STCC in June of 2009 (TBA). The students will be introduced to robotics featuring working motors and sensors. The students will be allowed to program the robot to do simple functions also. This activity will allow the students to develop their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as language and literacy. This activity is conducted by the head of the Engineering Department and staff at STCC.

JULY 2009

BSF Aviation Field Trip-Olive Branch Airport

The foundation is sponsoring an aviation field trip to Olive Branch Airport in July of 2009 (TBA). The students will explore the airport hanger and take part in an aviation flight school introductory course. The students will visit the flight tower and see planes on radar as they take off and land at the airport. This event is conducted by Air Venture Flight School. This activity will increase the students’ exposure to the aviation industry, as well as literacy and language skills.
